The bill to pass the construction of the TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline was not passed. Just shy of the 60 votes needed by Senate to pass, the bill failed with a 59-41 vote.
Although it is currently on hold, next year when Republicans take over the Senate, they may make this construction a larger priority. It looks like some of our current elected officials don’t appreciate the need for lower home heating oil and diesel fuel prices and a more secure supply.
We will have to wait and see what next year brings on this issue.
